This Privacy Policy explains what information Connix collects, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. Many of our athletes are under 18, so we collect as little as we can and keep athlete information away from the public.

1. The short version

  • Athlete profiles are never public. Only Connix-verified college coaches can see them, and only once the athlete has an active subscription.
  • An athlete's phone number is shown only to approved coaches, and only if the athlete turns on phone sharing. It is off by default.
  • An athlete's social accounts are shown to verified coaches only.
  • An athlete's date of birth is never shown to coaches.
  • A coach's phone number is seen by Connix staff only.
  • We don't sell your information, and we don't use advertising trackers.
  • You can see, correct and delete your information in the app, or by emailing support@connixrecruiting.com.

2. Who we are

Connix is run by Connix Recruiting ("Connix", "we", "us"), connixrecruiting.com. This policy covers the Connix website, the web app and the Connix apps for iPhone and Android. PLACEHOLDER: full legal name of the company and mailing address

3. Information we collect

Everyone

  • Account details: email address, password (stored only as a secure hash, never in readable form), and whether you are an athlete or a coach.
  • Sign-in records: the devices and browsers you're signed in on, their IP address, and when they were last used. We use these to keep your account secure and to show you your signed-in devices.
  • Messages, reports and blocks: the messages you send and receive, and any reports or blocks you make.
  • Notifications: your notification settings and, in the mobile app, a push notification token for your device, plus your device type and app version.
  • Help searches: what you search for in the FAQs, so we can improve answers.
  • Email codes: the one-time codes and password-reset links we send you (stored only as secure hashes).

Athletes

  • Required to sign up: first and last name, email address and date of birth (to confirm you are 14 or older).
  • Profile details you choose to add: photo; high school or junior college; graduation year; city and state where you live; sport; positions; shooting hand; height and weight; sport stats (for basketball, wingspan and vertical); club team, travel program and events; GPA and intended major; social accounts (Instagram, X, TikTok), Hudl and YouTube links and other links; and mobile phone number with your phone-sharing choice.
  • Highlight videos: up to three clips, their titles, and technical details such as length and file size.
  • Sends: which schools you sent your profile to, and the optional note you added.
  • Purchases: what you bought (subscription or Extras), the price, the date and the payment status. Card details are collected and kept by Stripe, or by Apple or Google for in-app purchases. Connix never receives your full card number.

Coaches

  • Name, title or role, program, school, school email address, mobile phone number and a link to your school's staff page.
  • Your verification status and notes Connix staff make while reviewing your account.
  • Your read-receipt setting.

What we don't collect

We don't collect your precise location, your contacts, or advertising identifiers. When a coach saves an athlete's shared number to their phone's contacts, that happens on the coach's own phone, not in Connix.

4. How we use information

  • To run Connix: create your account, build and show athlete profiles, deliver sends, messages and Extras, and host videos.
  • To verify coaches (school email domain plus a staff review).
  • To process payments and keep your subscription active.
  • To send emails and notifications (see section 7).
  • To keep users safe: review reports, remove content, prevent fraud and abuse, and protect accounts.
  • To answer support requests and improve the Service.
  • To meet our legal obligations.

We don't use your information for advertising, and we don't sell it.

PLACEHOLDER: lawyer to confirm the description of when staff may view messages that have not been reported

6. Companies that help us run Connix

We share information with service providers only so they can run parts of Connix for us, under contracts that limit how they use it:

  • Tandem (Tandem Launch): hosting, databases, email delivery, and file and video storage.
  • Stripe: payments on the web.
  • Expo, Apple and Google: delivering push notifications to the mobile app.
  • Apple App Store and Google Play: app downloads and, when available, in-app purchases.
  • Google Fonts: the Connix website loads its typeface from Google, which receives your browser's IP address when it does.

PLACEHOLDER: lawyer to confirm the full list of service providers, and whether Expo and Google Fonts should be named or replaced, for example by hosting the font ourselves

We may also share information:

  • when the law requires it, or to respond to valid legal requests;
  • to protect the safety of our users, especially minors, or to investigate abuse or fraud;
  • if Connix is involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case we'll tell you and this policy will continue to apply to your information.

7. Email and notifications

We use your email address to:

  • confirm your email with a 6-digit code, and reset your password;
  • tell you about your account, for example when a coach account is verified;
  • send receipts and messages about your subscription and Extras;
  • send notifications you can turn off, such as new-message alerts.

PLACEHOLDER: decide whether Connix will send marketing or newsletter emails. If so, they will need an unsubscribe link and consent rules for minors

8. Cookies and storage on your device

  • Cookies: we use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in and secure: connix_at (sign-in), connix_rt (keeps you signed in) and connix_csrf (protects forms from forgery). On the live site their names start with __Host- or __Secure- (for example __Host-connix_at), a browser feature that stops other sites from setting or changing them.
  • Device storage: the website and app save some things on your device, such as unfinished sign-up forms, recently loaded data for when you're offline, a note that you're signed in on this browser, and small settings like a dismissed banner. In the app, your sign-in is kept in your phone's secure storage.
  • No tracking: we don't use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking cookies or pixels, and we don't track you across other sites. Because we don't track you, there is nothing for browser "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals to turn off.

9. How long we keep information

  • While your account is open, we keep your information so the Service works.
  • When you delete your account, it disappears straight away: other users and coaches can no longer see you, you're signed out everywhere, and your email address and password are removed. Athletes' names, phone numbers, social accounts and links, and coaches' phone numbers, school emails and staff page links, are erased at the same time.
  • After 30 days, we permanently erase what remains: your profile details, photo, videos, notifications, blocks, and the text of the messages you sent. The 30-day window lets our support team handle mistakes and abuse reports. You can't undo a deletion once you've confirmed it.
  • What we keep after that, and why:
    • payment and purchase records, which we need for tax, accounting and chargebacks;
    • reports made by or about you, for user safety;
    • a record of actions taken by Connix staff, with personal details removed;
    • anonymous records that keep other people's information accurate, for example a coach's thread showing "Deleted user" and "Message removed", or a school's count of profiles received.

PLACEHOLDER: retention periods for kept payment records and safety reports

10. Your choices and rights

  • See and correct: you can see and edit your profile and account details in the app at any time.
  • Phone sharing: athletes can turn phone sharing on or off at any time.
  • Block and report: you can block a user or report content from the app.
  • Delete: you can delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account), or by emailing support.
  • Get a copy: email support@connixrecruiting.com to ask for a copy of your information. PLACEHOLDER: how long we take to respond, and how we confirm the request comes from the account owner

11. Athletes under 18

Connix is used by many high school athletes. Here's how we protect them:

  • Age: athletes must be at least 14 on the day they register. Connix isn't meant for anyone under 14. If we learn that a user is under 14, we delete the account.
  • No parental consent is needed for athletes aged 14 to 17. A parent or guardian may create and manage a profile for their player.
  • Less is collected and shown: only a few details are required. Phone sharing is off by default, date of birth is never shown to coaches, and profiles are never public.
  • Only verified coaches can see athlete profiles, and coaches can't search profiles until Connix staff approve them.
  • Staff actions are recorded: every action Connix staff take on an account is logged.
  • Removing content: athletes under 18 can delete their content, or their whole account, at any time in the app.
  • Parents: a parent or guardian can email support@connixrecruiting.com to ask about, correct or delete their child's information. PLACEHOLDER: how Connix confirms that the person asking is the athlete's parent or guardian

PLACEHOLDER: lawyer to review children's and teen privacy rules, including COPPA (under 13) and state laws for users under 18

12. US state privacy rights

Depending on where you live, state laws (for example in California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Texas) may give you the right to:

  • know what personal information we collect and how we use and share it;
  • get a copy of it;
  • correct it;
  • delete it;
  • opt out of the sale of your information, targeted advertising and some kinds of profiling. We don't sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.

We won't treat you differently for using these rights. To use them, email support@connixrecruiting.com.

PLACEHOLDER: lawyer to confirm which state laws apply to Connix, and to add any required wording, such as the categories of information in the format each law uses, how to appeal a decision, requests from authorized agents, and California-specific notices

13. Security

We protect your information with encrypted connections, hashed passwords, access limited to the staff who need it, and records of staff actions. We keep personal details out of our system logs. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your information, we'll tell you as the law requires.

14. Where your information is stored

Connix stores your information in the United States. PLACEHOLDER: confirm the hosting region with Tandem

15. Changes to this policy

We'll update this policy as Connix changes. The version and "Last updated" date at the top of this page show which version is current. If we make an important change, we'll tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
